Pushing the Boundaries in Marketing

Pushing boundaries is one way for brands to engage new audiences and gain exposure for their content, but before overstepping your bounds it’s essential that you establish precisely what your motivations are before going too far.

This course equips students to design music-themed graphics, such as album covers, concert posters, projections and t-shirt designs. In addition, they gain knowledge about code-driven aesthetics and typographic principles.

Redefining branding can be an enjoyable way to test design limits and add new dimensions to your work. This is particularly true of digital marketing, where creatives have revived the 1990s-era anything-goes aesthetic with what is known as brutalism or maximalism styles. When pushing these limits it is key that designs still meet client requirements without diminishing viewing experience or hindering message of the brand.

Visual Identity

Visual identity is at the core of brand identity. Customers absorb information within seconds when viewing a visual, so the image must be striking, easily understandable and convey a story about your business that communicates its mission clearly to customers. 55% of initial impressions come from visuals alone! However, branding and visual identity work together seamlessly to form powerful impressions for customers and clients.

An effective visual identity must be flexible and scalable across digital and print assets alike, providing a clear message about its values, vision and purpose to customers who connect emotionally with it. When designed effectively, visual identities can foster strong customer connections while building loyalty among consumers who feel a connection to it.

Logo and branding design is at the core of creating a visual identity for any brand, providing its primary symbol and serving as inspiration for subsequent graphics, color choices and typography decisions throughout. This includes materials like business cards, letterheads and social avatars and covers images as well as marketing collateral like flyers, brochures and tv/magazine/banner ads – each piece must not only differentiate the brand but go further to engage viewers while informing decisions made.

To establish its visual identity, a brand must identify elements that best communicate its value and purpose – usually words but sometimes images too. Once this has been determined, a visual style guide can be created which sets out specific guidelines on how these elements should be utilized – helping ensure consistency when developing its visual identity.

Visual identities should be distinct and original, setting the stage for all aspects of business. By choosing colors, fonts, and images that stand out, companies can create a visual identity that stands out and becomes instantly recognizable – helping brands easily enter markets naturally while earning loyal customers and promoters along the way. Studies have demonstrated how consistency in brand visual identities leads to greater visibility of 3.5 times greater, which in turn results in revenue increases of up to 23%.

Website Design

Web design has evolved exponentially. From basic HTML pages to visually impressive and dynamic websites, its history has been defined by an unyielding quest to discover novel trends while pushing limits further and further.

Website design involves crafting the aesthetics of a website, including its colors, fonts, graphics and user interface. Often this involves working closely with multiple teams across departments – an effective web designer must know how to listen and accept constructive criticism as part of this process.

Web design is at the core of every business’s online presence. It plays an integral part in shaping user experience and success of a site, and has an effect on brand image: 75% of consumers judge credibility based solely on a website alone!

Early websites prioritised functionality over aesthetics. Therefore, many website builders provided basic templates that allowed you to quickly build websites with limited or no customization needed – however these sterile designs lacked branding and personality necessary for building trust and generating leads; additionally they may not have been made mobile-responsive, leaving some users unaccessible.

Today, aesthetic consideration of websites has never been more essential. More businesses than ever are turning to dedicated web designers as a means of improving their online presence and expanding customer bases – leading them to grow 23 percent faster than national average jobs in this sector.

A great website starts with its header, located at the top of a page and often used to showcase navigation menus, business name/logo combinations or contact details. A properly designed header can help build brand authority and credibility by reflecting its overall aesthetic as part of an impressive web presence.

White space is another component of web design. White space refers to any area which lacks visual elements; when applied to website design, this means organizing visual elements while keeping white space in mind in order to balance out visuals and add emphasis.
